Nautilus E616 Review

We will now review the Nautilus E616 Elliptical and rate it according to what we think are the most important factors when choosing an elliptical for your home.

Price: 4/5

Most online stores seem to price this model around the $1,000 mark, which is around the price range you’d expect on this machine.

The price can dip below $1,000 in certain deals, so If you manage to get this machine for this type of price, it really does represent one of the best value buys for an elliptical.

Reliability & Warranty: 3/5

The reliability of the Nautilus E616 Elliptical is very good.

From reading reviews on Amazon, it seems that if there are problems, it happens very early in the life of the product.

The problems often arise because someone has received a faulty machine, which Nautilus will fix or replace as per the warranty.

Long-term there doesn’t seem to be many reports of the E616 breaking down.

The warranty is listed on their site as follows: 10 years on the frame, 3 years on parts and electonics and 1-year labour.

There are some elliptical machines that are cheaper that offer a lifetime on the frame (such as the Horizon E-59 elliptical) making the warranty on the Nautilus E616 Elliptical look a bit thin in this area.

Overall though the Nautilus E616 is reliable over the long-term with most faults coming from faulty machines that can be identified early.

Stability and Quality: 4/5

The Nautilus E616 Elliptical is a pretty stable machine with little rocking when in use, however, this all depends on the surface you place it on.

If you’re going to place it on carpet, you may want to purchase a small surface of plywood to create greater stability.

The quality is also very good.

It may not be identical to commercial gym quality but it’s fairly close. Taking into consideration the price point, the quality of the Nautilus E616 Elliptical is good.

Comfortability& Workout: 4.5/5

The Nautilus E616 Elliptical is a smooth machine to use and the transitions between the resistances change without any problems.

The Nautilus E616 Elliptical also seems to possess a stride length that most Amazon reviewers seem to be happy with.

If you think that a 20-inch stride length may not be enough for you, then it would be best to try it out in-store, however, it should be comfortable for most people.

One other point worth mentioning is that the E616 pedal motion is a tad different to normal ellipticals.

Most ellipticals have a slidey back and forth feel to their pedal motion whereas many have reported that the pedal motion on this elliptical is more of a stepping motion.

If you’re dead set on keeping the pedal motion exactly the same as most ellipticals, then again it’s best to try this one out before committing.

Size: 3.5/5

The Nautilus E616 Elliptical is by no means small, you will need a lot of space to place this machine.

Bearing in mind it’s also not foldable, storing it away will require some planning.

If you are planning to purchase the Nautilus E616 Elliptical, you’ll want to also take into consideration how high the ceilings are wherever you place the elliptical.

For example, many basements have ceilings that are around 7 ft so if you place this machine in such a room and you’re over 6ft, there could be problems when using this machine.

Make sure you have plenty of room between the top of your head and the ceiling when you’re on your elliptical.

Noise: 5/5

The Nautilus E616 Elliptical is a very quiet machine which gives off a very slight swishing sound from the rollers.

In addition, it seems that this quietness is maintained throughout the life of the product, which is a pretty rare thing to find in a piece of cardio equipment.

That being said it never hurts to apply some lubricant onto the axels from time to time to keep everything running smoothly and to ensure it remains quiet.

Features: 4/5

Nautilus has made sure that this elliptical has the main features to ensure a comfortable enjoyable ride.

There are built-in speakers to listen to your own music, a 3-speed fan and a ledge for you to place your tablet device on, so you can watch or read as you work out.

There’s also a water bottle holder to place your drinks in.

There is heart rate monitoring via contact hand grips or Telemetry and there is also the added bonus that the chest straps are included which is quite rare for a lot of ellipticals.

The features on the E616 are pretty good overall, however, it could be said that the fan is a bit on the weak side.

Should You Buy the Nautilus E616 Elliptical?

The Nautilus E616 Elliptical is a good machine.

It’s reliable, gives a good workout and has the extra features, such as speakers and fan, to make sure your workout is comfortable and enjoyable.

The 20-inch stride length and smooth motion will please a lot of people, and its quietness will make this suitable for anyone who wants to use the Nautilus E616 Elliptical as they watch TV or watch something on their tablet device.

There are also plenty of workout programs and resistance levels to keep you challenged long-term if you do want to push yourself to high fitness levels.

What stands out most about the Nautilus E616 Elliptical is its price, given the quality, sturdiness and number of features it has.

If you can get the E616 for under $1,000 it really is a great value purchase that you should snap up immediately.

Overall Elliptical Rating: 4/5

Pros: Very quiet and smooth to ride, sturdy and well built, good value for money

Cons: Some machines are faulty on arrival or develop faults early, the pedal motion is a little different to a traditional elliptical machine
