What is the LifeSpan TR1200i Treadmill?

The LifeSpan TR1200i is one of the top treadmills for under $1,000 and is often recommended as a ‘Value Buy’ from the best fitness experts.

The LifeSpan TR1200i treadmill is foldable, has a motorised incline, 21 workout options and is built to last. As one of the most reliable mid-level treadmill, it’s understandable why it has won multiple awards among review groups.

Price: 4.5/5

The price tag of just under $1,000 is going to attract people who want a treadmill that will last, and at the same time get as close as possible to mimicking the high-end machines which are over a $1,000. The LifeSpan TR1200i does achieve this in many ways, whilst simultaneously distancing itself apart from cheaper treadmills due to its powerful and reliable motor.

Overall the TR1200i is great value for money.

Reliability & Warranty: 4/5

There have been one or two reported incidents by users on Amazon of machines breaking down after a two year period but the finer details aren’t known. The fact that LifeSpan offers a lifetime warranty on its motor highlights their confidence in its reliability. This should reassure anyone who is anxious about the machine breaking down in the long run. LifeSpan also throws in a lifetime warranty on its frame, 3 years for its parts and labour for 1 year. Overall the warranty coverage on this treadmill is sound considering it’s price.

As always treadmills require care and it’s important to lubricate the machine once in a while, which helps with the longevity of the treadmill. In this respect, the TR1200i is no different. If you make sure to care properly for the TR1200i, there’s no reason why it can’t serve you long into the future.

Stability and Quality: 4.5/5

The build quality is solid and you won’t have any issues with wobbling or shaking as long as you’ve assembled the treadmill correctly. The handlebars are sturdy and can easily bear full body weight.

Power & Noise: 4/5

Powered by a 2.5 hp continuous motor the LifeSpan TR1200i treadmill packs a decent punch. It’s more than capable of handling your walking, jogging or running.

The motor also can handle 15 different incline levels, allowing users to take the intensity of a normal walking or jogging routine up a notch. In addition, most treadmills only go up to a maximum speed of 10 MPH, whereas the TR200i can go up to 11 MPH.

Regarding the noise, it isn’t silent, yet it’s not loud. It’s best described as a ‘medium’ level of noise.

Size: 4/5

With a running surface of 20 x 56 inches, it is one of the larger running surfaces on a treadmill. The spacious area makes it suitable for walking, jogging and light running without having to worry about your feet stepping out of the deck area.

Regarding the overall machine, it is heavy. To move this around you’re likely to need at least two people or at least one very strong person. Be wary of this on the day of assembly. That being said the weight of the machine isn’t surprising given that the build quality is good.

Features: 4/5

There are a lot of features that make the LifeSpan TR 1200i standout.

Assisted Folding and Unfolding

Firstly the treadmill is foldable, thus people who are space conscious will be able to lift the deck to gain more floor space when it’s not in use.

In addition, the deck of the treadmill has assisted lifting and lowering. This is a standout feature for anyone who does not want to do any heavy lifting which may be of particular interest to anyone with back issues.

Another perk is that there are built-in speakers on the treadmill panel. Whilst you’re not going to get amazing sound quality out of any treadmill speaker, the speakers are decent enough to hear your music adequately. In addition, the panel features a multi-coloured LCD console.

The treadmill panel has a magazine/iPad stand

The TR1200i also has the ability for you to use a USB drive to store your data and later view it on a desktop computer. There’s a slight caveat to this feature, however, as the USB drive is only compatible with a LifeSpan Club account, which is a paid service.

Other benefits not mentioned:

  • 21 Easy to Use programs
  • 6 Compression shock absorbers in the deck
  • Heart rate sensors (although some have reported they aren’t accurate)
